Dear Parents

I hope you all enjoyed a relaxing half term week. I am sure we are all hoping that summer has now arrived and we can enjoy some hot and sunny weather. It is hard to believe that we are now only six weeks from the end of the school year - and what busy weeks they are going to be!  This week our Year 4 children celebrated their First Reconciliation. It was a lovely occasion celebrated outside on a beautiful sunny morning. We were so impressed by the children's reverence and maturity. This weekend and next weekend Year 4 will celebrate their First Holy Communion Mass.

We also have our Year 6 children preparing to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation on 1 July. The children are very excited about this and again are showing such commitment in their preparation. Please remember all our children in your prayers as they take these important steps in their journey of faith. My thanks to Fr Richard, Mr Tasker and Mrs Freitas for ensuring both celebrations will be wonderful memories for the children

On Monday 28 June at 6pm we are holding our annual New Intake Evening for parents of children starting at St Wulstan's in September 2021. Even if you already have a child in school it is important that you attend this meeting as this will be an opportunity to give you information and for you to ask any questions you may have. We look forward to seeing many of you then. We do presently still have a limited number of places available for Reception Class in September. If you know of anyone who may be interested in a place at our lovely school please ask them to contact me. Thank you.

Year 2 had a wonderful start back at school on Monday with their DT day. They were given a design brief which specified that they must have a working drawbridge and a flag pole which could be raised and lowered. During the afternoon, they had to design and construct a bridge from spaghetti and marshmallows which was sturdy enough to hold 5 mini figures. It was challenging but we clearly have some budding engineers.

Year 1 children were lucky to have a session with the Harriers this week and learned some football skills. They also consolidated some learning in maths by turning left and right with their footballs.

Year 6 have been busy preparing for Confirmation. This week they planned an assembly where they had to explain the Sacrament of Confirmation to Year 2. They enjoyed sharing their own journey of faith with the younger children and explain how excited they are about taking responsibility for their own faith.

Year 3 have been investigating cloud formation in their science experiments this week!

Year 5 have studying 'Performance Poetry ' this week and are preparing their own presentations. Well done Year 5 !

Some of our Year 4 children were really excited to receive their second Sacrament - their First Reconciliation . This time spent reflecting builds on the children’s preparations to receive their First Holy Communion which takes place over the next few weekends. The children made our school very proud as they behaved with respect and reverence during their time spent with Father Richard. The children’s smiles after receiving this sacrament was uplifting to us all, well done!

Thank you to everyone who donated so generously to our Non uniform day last term. Nearly £800 was raised which will be added to the PTA fundraising for more play equipment for our children. Thank you we really appreciate your kindness.

Our uniform suppliers, Marks and Spencers, have contacted us to say they are almost ready to begin the M&S Back to School 2021 campaign and are just finishing the final bits of embroidery and print for all their schools.
