Message from Mrs Brocklesby

Dear Parents and Carers,

As I prepare to leave my role as  Executive Principal, I wanted to take a moment to thank you for your support, trust, and partnership throughout my time at Saint Wulstan's School.

It has been a genuine privilege to work alongside such a caring and dedicated community. Watching our children learn, grow, and achieve has been one of the greatest rewards of my career, and I am grateful to have shared that journey with you.

Your encouragement, involvement, and commitment to your children's education have helped make our school a positive and thriving place. Together, we have celebrated many successes.

Although I am moving on to a new chapter, I will always look back on my time here with great pride and many fond memories. I know Saint Wulstan's School will continue to flourish, and I wish all our children, families, and staff every success for the future.

Thank you once again for your kindness and support. It has been an honour to serve as your Executive Principal.

On behalf of the staff and children, we would like to express our sincere thanks to Mrs Brocklesby for all she has done at St Wulstan's. Mrs Brocklesby's kindness, commitment and dedication have had a lasting impact on everyone at St Wulstan's. Through her leadership, she has helped to create a school where every child is known and valued for their individual gifts and talents. Through every success and every challenge, her reassurance, wisdom and unwavering support have given confidence and strength to pupils, staff and families alike.

Mrs Brocklesby - as you begin this new chapter at St Joseph's, please know that you leave St Wulstan's with our sincere thanks, our deepest appreciation and the fondest memories. We wish you every blessing, happiness and success in the years ahead, and assure you that you will remain in our thoughts and prayers.

THANK YOU TO OUR PTA

Special thanks to our newly formed St Wulstan's Community and PTA. They have provided incredible support to the school through their amazing fundraising efforts. The total raised this year has been an amazing £1284. We have received a very generous donation already for our new sound system and projector in the hall - something we were able to use in our Leavers Mass this morning. Thank you so much!

My thanks go to the amazing staff team who work so hard every single day with unbelievable energy and always a smile on their faces. They are the best team I could ask for and I wish them all a well-deserved break. 

Reception

Year 1 and 2

The class have had a super week and we have loved reflecting on how much the children have matured and developed over the year. The class finished off their science work on plants this week, learning about evergreen and deciduous trees. The children asked thoughtful questions and discussed what they already knew about plants and the seasons to explain their thinking. In computing, the class have been learning how to use search engines safely and effectively to search for information online. In maths, the children have been learning about position and direction, working on concepts such as 'forwards', 'backwards, 'left', 'right', 'clockwise', anticlockwise', 'quarter turn', 'half turn' and 'full turn'. A lot of the work was completed practically and the children especially enjoyed reinforcing their recall of left and right by dancing to the 'Cha Cha Slide'! IN PSHE, the children have learnt about good and bad secrets and have recalled the NSPCC 'Talk PANTS' conversation to ensure they know how to keep themselves safe and how to seek help if they ever need to. Please visit the NSPCC website for more information and guidance on how to reinforce these important conversations. Thank you so much to our families for all of their kind messages, cards and gifts at the end of term. Mrs Tasker, Mrs Price and Mrs Harris have loved teaching the class this year and are thrilled to be teaching such a lovely class again next year. We wish you all a lovely summer.

Year 3 and 4

In the final week, the children performed brilliantly on Monday morning for the Year 6 production. The class should be proud of their efforts and hopefully the experience will give them the confidence in future performances. In maths, the children were tasked with interpreting and drawing graphs. They looked at pictographs, bar graphs and line graphs, learning how to collect data and then record it. In French, the children finished their unit by completing a series of speaking, listening, reading and writing exercises linked to fruit. The children have really enjoyed their French lessons this year and have grown in confidence to recall key French words and phrases. The children finished the week by celebrating each others successes in the end of year Mass and playing respectfully on 'Toy Day'. It is always lovely to see the children play with laughter and share their interests with their friends. Finally, Mr Tasker would like to share his gratitude to the children and parents for their kind words and gifts. Mr Tasker and the class have made great progress this year and he is looking forward to working with the children again next year. We wish you all a safe and relaxing summer holiday and look forward to seeing all again in September.

Free School Meals – Check if you are eligible

The Department for Education has recently updated the eligibility criteria for Free School Meals. This means some families may now qualify, even if they have not been eligible in the past.

If you receive Universal Credit, you should apply. We strongly encourage all families to check their eligibility and submit an application.

• Your date of birth
