Dear Parents

Thank you to all those parents and friends who joined us at our Year 3 Mass this morning. I was so impressed by the children’s reverence as well as their confident reading. Well done Year 3. Please make a note of your child’s Class Mass and we look forward to seeing you there and please stay for a cup of tea afterwards. Next Thursday,24 January, we will be celebrating a whole school Mass at 9.15am to celebrate the Feast of St Wulstan. It would be lovely to see as many of you there as possible.

This week, as I am sure your children have said, the whole school has been studying the topic of Judaism as part of our multicultural curriculum. The children have really enjoyed looking at the traditions and practices of the Jewish faith. It has been lovely to see how many of the classes have baked traditional foods, created beautiful artwork and artefacts as well as researching this fascinating religion. It has also contributed to an increased understanding of our own Christian beliefs. We look forward to sharing some photographs on next week’s newsletter.

This Sunday, 20 January, we have school Mass in Church at 10.00am. It is always lovely to see so many of our children and their families at these Masses. We encourage and welcome all families, Catholic and non Catholic to attend as part of our school and parish community. It is especially important that all children preparing for the Sacrament of Reconciliation and the Eucharist come and sit on the front row with Mrs James as part of their preparation. Also we hope to see many Year 6 children who so recently received the Sacrament of Confirmation. We look forward to seeing you on Sunday.

The Year 5 Pyramid Concert is now less than a month away so please ensure you have purchased your tickets. This is a fabulous experience for the children and a great night out as a parent. I have attached a photograph taken at last year’s afternoon practice which illustrates well the scale of the event. We are all looking forward to it Year 5!

As we begin the new school year there have been further updates to the information on the school website class pages. This term’s curriculum letters and some new photographs of the children have been added so please log on and have a look. Dates for this term have also been updated. Please see the calendar tab on our website for further important dates this term.

If at any time you have a concern or need to speak to me or your class teacher please do not hesitate to contact us. Wishing you a happy St Wulstan’s day tomorrow and a lovely weekend.
