21 June 2019

Dear Parents

It is hard to believe that there are only four weeks left of this academic year. These are extremely busy weeks but with opportunities for fun and celebration . Please check the school website for dates of your children’s Showcase Assembly. They all start at 2.30 pm and the children are excited to welcome you into school and share their learning over the past year.

Our annual Sports Day will be held on Monday 15 July 9.30 -12 noon on the school field. Please ensure your children have their PE kit and pumps or trainers in school as there will be practising as well as some house matches over the next few weeks.

Next Tuesday, 25 June, the children will be able to take part in auditions for our Talent Show later on this term. Can you remind the children to bring in any props, music or instruments on Tuesday. If you have any queries do not hesitate to speak to Mrs Tasker, our resident ’Simon Cowell ‘!

On Tuesday evening, 25 June, we are holding our annual New Intake Evening for parents of children starting at St Wulstan’s in September. Even if you already have a child in school it is important that you attend this meeting as this will be an opportunity to give you information and for you to ask any questions you may have. We look forward to seeing many of you then. We do have a limited number of spaces available in Reception for September. If you know anyone who is new to the area or unsure about the place they have been offered please ask them to contact me for a visit. Thank you.

Key Stage 2 children, and particularly Year 6, are all very busy preparing for their production of ‘Into the Woods which they will be performing on the afternoon and evening of Monday 1 July at 2.00pm and 6.30pm. It promises to be a lovely event with Year 6 leading the acting and singing and Years 3, 4 and 5 as dancers. Please return ticket orders to the school office as we will not be able to admit anyone without tickets. Thank you.

The whole school trip to the Dudley Zoo will soon be upon us, Friday 12 July, details of payments can be found on Parentpay. Final payments must be made by 5 July in order for arrangements, group lists and coaches to be finalized. Thank you to everyone who has offered to come as helpers. Parent payment details will be added to ParentPay from Monday and a safeguarding meeting regarding the trip will be held on Wednesday 10 July.

A massive thank you to everyone who contributed donations so generously to the School Fayre and to everyone who joined us on the evening. As ever there are too many parents and friends to thank individually but your time and support is invaluable so thank you all. Just over £1000 was raised on the night and the children will be asked how they would like this money to be spent. Further details to follow. I hope all the Dads enjoyed their Father Day gifts and again thank you to the PTA who organized all of that in the same week as the Fayre!

Also today, Fr Richard was in school for our Year 3 children, to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation. At this Sunday’s Mass ,ten of our Year 3 children will receive their First Holy Communion. This as you know is such an important day in the spiritual life of the children so please remember them in your prayers. We ask that they are supported by their school friends with a strong choir. There will be plenty of space in the church as they are a small group and it is a lovely opportunity for the parish and school to celebrate together as a community. We are particularly grateful to Mrs Mallinson who despite being on maternity leave has offered to play the music at Mass to ensure the children’s day is so special. Please make every effort to bring your children to church and support with their beautiful singing. Thank you.

A reminder that next Friday 28 June is an extraordinary INSET day directed by the SNOMAC Board of Directors. School will be closed to the children as the whole staff will join other SNOMAC school staff at Hagley School.

We wish you all an enjoyable weekend and look forward to seeing you on Sunday.
