23 March 2018

Dear Parents

It is hard to believe that we are now approaching Holy Week and Easter. I am sure the children came home last Friday full of talk of their Retreat Day with Dan Callow. It was a truly wonderful day of prayer, music, reflection , meditation and laughter based on a theme of 'A heart that sees'. Deacon John O'Brien joined us for the final Liturgy and commented afterwards on how amazing our children are in their faith, their charisma and their talents.

On Monday 26 March, we will celebrate a whole school Mass in the hall at 9.15am Please join us for Mass and coffee afterwards. We look forward to seeing you. A reminder that all the Easter Triduum services and Masses in the Parish can be found on the school calendar and in the parish newsletter. Congratulations to our Year 3 children who last Saturday received the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Fr Richard and Monsignor Moran both commented on the children's reverence and their understanding. They were as ever a credit to us and to you their parents. Well done Year 3.

On Thursday Year 1 and Year 2 travelled to Harvington Hall as part of our week's focus on Discipleship. They returned full of stories of the hidden priest holes designed by our MAC saint, Nicholas Owen. Mrs Tasker and Miss Norris again commented on the children's interest and enthusiasm. They were a delight to take out and we look forward to seeing the photographs and write up on their class pages soon.

Next Tuesday (27 March) there will also be a cake sale for the children and the PTA will again ask for a class contribution from Year 5 and Year 6. We are always delighted at the generosity shown by parents for these sales so thank you again. Remember to send in 20p on Tuesday morning if your child would like a cake.

As has happened in previous years we are once again organizing an Easter egg competition for the children. There is no charge for entering and the children are asked to use their imaginations and any materials available to them to decorate a hard boiled egg. The entries need to be brought into school on Thursday 29 March (the last day of term) and they will be judged by one of our Academy Committee with a prize available for each class.

After Easter the children are able to wear summer uniform of red/pink striped or check dresses for the girls and red polo shirts with shorts or trousers for the boys. Red sandals are permitted but please do not send your child in open toe sandals. Summer uniform is not obligatory if your child prefers to carry on wearing white shirt and tie.

We currently have a vacancy for a lunchtime supervisor to start after Easter. If you interested or you know someone who may be interested further details can be found on the school website under 'Vacancies'.

Wishing you an enjoyable weekend
