Dear Parents and Carers

I would like to start this newsletter, by congratulating the children in Year 1 for their Open Classroom today. It was an opportunity to hear of everything the children have learned during the last year and share their books with their families. Well done children and thank you to the Year 1 class team for all your hard work.

Thank you to all our parents known and new who joined us for our New Intake meeting last Monday. The staff and I extend a particularly warm welcome to our new children and their families. Please remember if you have any questions or concerns do not hesitate to contact us at any time.

It is hard to believe that there are only four weeks left of this academic year. These are extremely busy weeks but with opportunities for fun and celebration . Please check the school website for dates of your children's 'Open Classroom'. They all start at 2.45pm with the exception of Reception class, and the children are excited to welcome you into school and share their learning over the past year.

Our annual Sports Day will be held on Friday 15 July 9.30 -12 noon on the school field. Please ensure your children have their PE kit and pumps or trainers in school as there will be practising as well as some house matches over the next few weeks.

The children are busy building up to their Talent Show auditions. This is an annual event that enables the children to share their singing, dancing, magic, music skills to the children across the school. Auditions are being held on Monday 27 June for KS1 and KS2 and again on Tuesday 28 June for KS1. If your child needs props or music please remind them to bring them in that day. They won't need to bring any costumes at this point. Thank you

On Sunday 3 July our school will be leading the singing at St Wulstan's Church 10 am Mass. We would love all our families to join us and for the children to sing as a choir. It is a long time since we have been able to celebrate Mass together like this and we would ask ask many families as possible to come. I am sure the families of the children who recently received the sacraments of Confirmation and Holy Communion would agree the children sing beautifully and certainly bring so much to the parish Mass. Please return the letter slip in your child's bag to confirm  your child's will being coming. Thank you.

As we are now in the final term I know many parents will be buying new school uniform. Please see attached our School Uniform Policy which details all aspects of St Wulstan's uniform requirements and how we can ensure school uniform is accessible and affordable to everyone. Could I also remind you that extreme haircuts, shaved or bleached, are not permissible.  We are grateful to all parents who adhere to the school uniform policy thus ensuring we maintain high standards of appearance and consequently attitude and behaviour. Thank you.

Finally, it would seem warmer weather has arrived. A reminder for every child to bring a school water bottle in for rehydration throughout the day in class, bottles can be purchased from the school office (£2.00). Please only use school water bottles to avoid leakage onto the children’s work. We are unable to apply suncream so please ensure children have it applied before leaving home .

All statutory testing  KS1 SATs, KS2 SATs, Y1 phonic screening and Y4 Times Tables assessments are now completed. All the children have worked exceptionally hard and have tried their best, we cannot ask more. The children's progress and attainment will be shared in their school reports which will be distributed on Friday 8 July. Well done children!

Wulstan's Lodge are running their annual Summer Holiday Club. Please see below for further information regarding activities, prices and booking details.

A polite reminder to parents and carers that children are not to play on the Trim Trail at the end of the school day. It is not designed for pre school children and the children in school are told not to use it unless a member of staff is supervising them. Similarly please do not allow little ones to climb on the red and white barriers as they are not for climbing on and can easily topple. Please ensure your children do not continue to do this once in your care. Thank you for your support in keeping the children safe.

Many congratulations to Jasmine and Colby who were crowned Rosebud and Prince for the Stourport carnival 2022. We are very proud of both children and hope they have a wonderful time this coming year!

Reception were excited to receive some very special post this week! On Monday, the children received a letter from Buckingham Palace in response to the cards that they sent to the Queen for her Platinum Jubilee celebrations. They were delighted to hear that the Queen had received all of their cards and that she was pleased to hear from them. As well as the letter, they were also very lucky to receive a card from the Queen with some special pictures and a message inside. It was a very exciting day for everyone in Reception!

Year 2 have really enjoyed using the boom whackers creating some lovely  music this week !

Year 5 had the opportunity to visit Hagley High School this week to take part in a MAC sports afternoon. It was very warm but Year 5 were amazing and gave it their all in all the events. They have also been learning more in science about lifecycles - this week they have been looking at metamorphosis and have been very creative in English, using their fabulous vocabulary to write descriptively.

On Wednesday afternoon, Year 6 had a fantastic opportunity to take part in the Cycling festival held at the Stourport Sports Club.

They developed their cycling ability whilst enjoying the great outdoors. The Year 6 children thoroughly enjoyed their cycling session. Thank you too to Mrs Angela Randle, our Chair of Governors, who joined the children and staff to observe how much the children gain from being part of the Stourport Schools Sports Partnership.

Wishing everyone a lovely weekend
