Parent Representatives Required

St Wulstan’s Catholic Primary School has two vacancies for Parent Representatives to join its Local Governing Body. All parents have the opportunity to nominate and/or stand as a candidate. Our school is part of the Emmaus Multi Academy Company and, typically, there are two meetings held each school term. This role is not a representative of the parents but a representative parent. If you wish to be nominated, you will require two proposers.

If you would like to find out what the role is likely to include, Angela Randle (Chair of Governors), Fr Richard Sharples (Parish Priest), and I (Vice-Chair), will be at the school on Friday 12 November (located near to the school office) and you are invited to simply turn up between 3.30pm and 4pm to informally talk with us.

A nomination form is available now to download by clicking on the button below (or from the school secretary during normal school opening hours) and it must be returned to the school office by an extended date of no later than 12 noon on Friday 19 November 2021.

To be eligible, you must be a parent of at least one registered pupil attending the school at the time of the election and you are asked to serve for four years (unless you resign the post in the interim). However, any parent who is an elected member of the local authority or employed at the school for more than 500 hours in any twelve consecutive months is not allowed.

For the purposes of election, the term ’parent’ applies to any person who has (or has had) parental responsibility, or cares (or has cared), for a child currently at our school. Grandparents are not allowed to be nominated. A Parent Representative may finish their term of office even if their child(ren) leave(s) the school.

Should only one or two nominations be received by this official closing date and time, the candidate(s) will be duly elected unopposed. If there are three or more nominations, an election will take place and information on voting arrangements will be advised to you at a later date.

If you are selected as a Parent Representative, you need to agree to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Your appointment will not be valid until a satisfactory disclosure has been obtained.

I look forward to receiving all eligible nominations.

Yours sincerely
