Next Week's Transition Morning
We are looking forward to our Transition Morning next week! This is a valuable opportunity for children to meet their new teachers, explore their upcoming classrooms, and get a feel for the year ahead. It’s an exciting time that helps everyone feel more confident and prepared for the new academic year. We can’t wait to see the positive energy and enthusiasm it brings!
We’re planning a Community Tidy-Up and would love your help! If you have any time to spare, we’re looking for volunteers to help tidy the school garden and give our picket fence a fresh coat of paint. Whether you can offer an hour or a morning, your support would make a big difference in keeping our school environment looking its best. Please let the school office know if you’re able to help and what date you are free before the end of term or during the first or last week of the school holidays.—many hands make light work!

Reception and Year 1
Despite the warm weather, Reception and Year 1 have continued to show amazing enthusiasm with their learning this week. They thoroughly enjoyed their cricket lesson and produced some beautiful artwork during their time in the woodlands.
Thursday was an extra special day as the children went on their much-anticipated trip to Forest School. It was a day full of fun, laughter, and adventure! The children cooked their own toast over the fire, built dens, created homes for the Three Little Pigs, and even made their own natural face paints—decorating each other with great excitement. They slid down dusty banks, swung from ropes, and embraced every moment of outdoor exploration. It was a truly memorable experience, and we’re so proud of the children for their behaviour, teamwork, and adventurous spirit!
Years 2 and 3
We have been impressed by the children's sewing skills this week as they reached the end of their recent textiles unit. The children have made great progress in their ability to use a running stich to join fabrics, threading a needle and applique. It has been wonderful to see the perseverance shown by the children, whatever their ability. In geography, the children have been learning about erosion and asked some fascinating questions about the human impact on our rivers. The class have also enjoyed revising the continents of the world and seeing how fast they could remember them whilst playing circle games with a giant inflatable globe! In swimming, the children tried hard to demonstrate their progress this week in 'assessment week'. The children showed us how far they can swim on their front and back and we were delighted to see the progress the children have made since they started the lessons. They are looking forward to 'fun week' next week as a reward for their hard work and enthusiasm!
Year 4
Year 4 have worked really well this week and should be very proud of their efforts. In maths, the children have been developing their understanding of statistics by interpreting pictograms, bar graphs and line graphs. In French, the children have continued to develop their understanding of 'Ma Famille' by learning to introduce family members using 'il s'appelle' or 'elle s'appelle'. The class have become really confident at reading and listening to key phrases and translating them from French to English. In history this week, the children learning about working conditions during the Industrial Revolution and how impactful new laws introduced were on the safety of working men, women and children. Finally, the children celebrated Mass this morning with the theme 'St Peter and St Paul'. As always, the children done themselves proud with their reverence, confident responses and wonderful reading. Thank you and well done, Year 4!
Year 5
Year 5 have been very creative this week and have finally completed their stuffed toys. They did a wonderful job with many of them trying sewing for the first time! The results were fabulous, and the children were so proud of their creations. Hopefully they have shared their work with you this weekend. In History, the children continued to explore the reign of Henry VIII finding out why he closed so many monasteries during his reign. In Science, have begun to investigate ways in which plants reproduce. This afternoon, the children started to learn about self portraits and produced a continuous line self-portrait, which was a huge challenge, but all children tried their best and produced a masterpiece! They then also all produced a poem portrait thinking about what makes them, them. To finish, a watercolour wash background was created and next week, the children will begin to layer all aspects together to create a beautiful self-portrait. Miss McGowan also has enjoyed reading the writing that Year 5 have produce. They were tasked with writing a David Attenborough style script to describe the yellow spotted lizard. The children’s creativity and detail was fabulous! Well done Year 5.
Year 6
It’s been another busy week for Year 6! The children have been fully immersed in rehearsals for their end-of-year performance, showing great commitment and enthusiasm. They've been working hard to memorise their lines, fine-tune their solos, and bring energy to the stage through a few dance routines. In addition to the performance preparations, the children have also been focusing on their transition to Year 7. The children attending Hagley have enjoyed three full days of transition, and we can’t wait to hear all about their experiences. Last Tuesday, the children took part in an exciting double session with Kidderminster Harriers, combining physical activity with important health education. Through engaging football drills and team games, they learned all about the importance of good dental hygiene. The sessions highlighted how brushing twice a day, reducing sugary snacks and visiting the dentist regularly can help keep their teeth strong and healthy.
Year 4 Mass - Feast of Saint Peter and Saint Paul
Today Year 4 attended Mass and celebrated the lives of St Peter and St Paul. The liturgy was a meaningful time of reflection, helping the children learn more about the courage, faith and dedication of these two important saints. Fr Richard spoke about the importance of being more like Peter and Paul and encouraged everyone to be more like St Peter and St Paul in our daily lives by showing faith and a willingness to share the message of Jesus with others. Thank you to Fr Richard for celebrating Mass in school and thank to the Year 4 children for being so reverent and prayerful. A special thank you to Mr Tasker for preparing the children so well and to the families who have joined us.

Rehearsals have begun for the end of year production, which already sounds like it's going to be a fantastic one. Tickets are available from the school office from Monday 30 June for this production. Your child will be bringing home a letter regarding this, with a reply slip at the bottom for you to order your tickets.
Dear Parents, as the weather is forecast to be very hot for the next week again, could you please ensure that your child has sun cream applied before they come to school and that they remember to bring a sun hat and water bottle. Our playgrounds have water fountains so that the children can have access to water on a regular basis.
