Dear Parents

Congratulations go to our Key Stage 2 children for their wonderful production of 'Mary Poppins' this week. Children from across the key stage entertained us with their wonderful singing and dancing but the stars of the performance have to be the Year 6 children who really excelled. I have received several emails and been approached by numerous parents who were equally as blown away by the performance as I was. What a wonderful way to end the year with your children having such a powerful and positive impact on the school community. Well done children! It is hard to believe that their performance was the result of just under four week's work! My thanks must also go to Mrs Warnett and Mrs James for masterminding the whole production but also to all the staff (too numerous to mention here) who worked quietly in the background to make the production such a resounding success. My congratulations and thanks go to you all. It was absolutely fabulous and will be remembered as one of the best productions ever (if not the best). Well done everyone! We had glorious weather on Friday for our 'Summer Fayre '. This was a massive success raising well in excess of £835, final figures are still being gathered. It really was a fantastic event enjoyed by everyone, a lovely family atmosphere. My gratitude goes to everyone who organized this event, our PTA committee and the school staff who worked all day preparing and clearing up. Thank you all so much.

Year 2 have had an exciting week. On Wednesday they walked down to St Wulstan's church as part of their classroom work in RE. They were able to recognize both the religious artefacts and gain deeper understanding of their faith. The children were exemplary in their behaviour and learning. This was followed today by their class Mass for which they had written a letter inviting parishioners. They thought to take advantage of the beautiful weather and celebrate Mass under the shaded canopy of trees in the KS1 play area. To be at Mass in such a tranquil, cool and calming environment was the most wonderful way to start the day. Thank you Year 2, Mrs Tasker and Mrs Brown for such a lovely opportunity.

Thank you to all the Year 4 parents who were able to attend this week's Showcase Assembly. Once again I was really impressed with the children's confidence in speaking, the quality of their work and the obvious enjoyment they have had whilst learning. Well done Year 4. All the class showcase assemblies can be found on the school website calendar tab. We look forward to seeing you there.

On Thursday 12 July you will receive your child's annual school report. For children in Years 1, 2 and 6 this will include the results of statutory testing in phonics for Year 1 and end of Key stage assessments for Years 2 and 6. Having started to read many of the children's reports it is clear to see how hard they have all worked this year, and also how kind and caring our children are. Well done everyone. We don't hold a formal Parents' Evening in the summer term as parents obviously receive the written report but if you do wish to discuss something further please contact me via the school office.

The whole school trip to the Cotswold Wildlife Park is on Friday 13 July, details of payments can be found on Parentpay. Final payments must be made by 6 July in order for arrangements, group lists and coaches to be finalized. Thank you to everyone who has offered to come as helpers. Fr Richard has asked us to remind families of the parish barbeque on Sunday 15th July after Mass, which will be a Family Mass starting at 11.00 am (not 10.00 am). Entrance tickets are now on sale £5.00 adults, £2.50 children (family £15.00) As last year, they will have TVs set up in the garage for those who wish to watch Wimbledon or the World Cup. It should be a lovely event so please try and support.
