Message from Mrs Brocklesby

Welcome to all our existing families and to any new families who have joined us this term - you are most welcome! We hope you already feel very welcome and part of the school community. It is wonderful to see you all on the playground in the mornings and after school – please do say ‘Hello!’.
There is always a member of staff available at the start and end of the day so if you have any questions or queries please feel free to speak to them.
The children all look so smart in their school uniforms. I have been absolutely delighted to see almost every child wearing black school shoes – thank you parents for all your support in following our school uniform policy. It really does make all the difference. All of the pupils have settled back in fantastically and have make an excellent start to their learning journeys already. A special well done to the children in Reception who have settled in so well – we are all very proud of you!
We do still have some places in some year groups so if you know of anybody looking for school places, please direct them to the school office where staff will support.
We are all very excited about the year ahead and all the amazing things we have planned for the pupils. Remember to keep an eye on our school website for any news and updates throughout the year.

Weekly Round Up From Mrs Warnett

Reception Class and Year 1 have had a fantastic first few days in school.
The staff have been so impressed with the new children in Reception. They came into school so confidently and have taken to this exciting chapter of their lives with such enthusiasm! It has been lovely getting to know the children and to see them getting to know one another.
The children in Year 1 have made the staff very proud this week. They looked so much more grown up coming back through the doors and have settled into Year 1 brilliantly. The children were excited to share all of their news with the teachers and with each other. It has also been lovely to see how kind and welcoming they have been to the younger children. Year 1 are going to be wonderful role models for Reception Class this year!

The children in Year 2 and 3 have had a wonderful start to the term, kicking off their work on Beatrix Potter's stories by going blackberry picking! The children had a lovely time picking blackberries by the river. They impressed us by their bravery when faced with the odd bramble! The class collected a record number of blackberries and used them to bake delicious blackberry and apple crumbles. Well done on super measuring and baking skills! A big 'THANK YOU!' to Mrs Checketts and Mrs Bullock for their invaluable help.

Year 4: The children have settled really well into the routines of Year 4. Mr Tasker has enjoyed listening to the children’s summer experiences and getting to know them better. Next week the children will be starting their swimming lessons and getting stuck into their topics of Romans in History and Rivers in Geography

Year 5: It has been a brilliant start for Year 5 this week and an exciting weekend ahead with our residential trip. The children have already settled in well and are loving all of their activities.

Year 6: The Year 6 children have settled into their new classroom and have been working on their goals and aspirations for the coming academic year. Mrs Freitas is looking forward to knowing them well and supporting them with their learning in Year 6.

Thursday 5 September 2024 - Feast Day of S. Teresa of Kolkata

On Thursday we celebrated the feast day of one of our house saints: Saint Teresa of Kolkata. The children gathered together for an assembly to celebrate  her life. Mother Teresa promotes kindness, understanding and the belief that even one person can make a significant change to the lives of many. Mother Teresa or Saint Teresa of Calcutta is a historical figure of the late 20th Century who became known for her good works and devotion to those in need. She was a Roman-Catholic nun and missionary, who in her younger years worked as a schoolteacher in India for poor and disadvantaged children. However, she went on to found a number of charitable organisations and worked closely with people suffering from severe sickness and poverty. Mother Teresa passed away in 1997 and was subsequently canonised by the Catholic Church in recognition of a lifetime of good deeds. Mother Teresa continues to be an inspiring figure and a valuable role model to everyone at Saint Wulstan's.
