PILGRIMS OF HOPE WITH KIND HEARTS
Wriggly Nativity
What a fantastic Wriggly Nativity we enjoyed this year! Our children were brilliant from start to finish with wonderful singing, confident acting, and so much enthusiasm on stage.
We are incredibly proud of every single child for their hard work, energy, and joy in bringing the story to life.
Well done to all involved for making this year’s Nativity truly special!
THIRST FOR KNOWLEDGE
On Friday, this week, the children and staff had the pleasure of a visit from members of the Stourport Brass Band. The band played lots of Christmas tunes and helped to get us all in the festive mood. A big thank you to Mrs Foskett who organised this treat for us. One of the band members, Carly Goodman, is a former pupil of St Wulstan's. It was lovely to welcome her back to visit our school.
One of our pupils, Rose, recently obtained distinction in her grade 2 trumpet exam. Well done Rose. We are very proud of you. One day, we might see you performing in a brass band! Keep practising.
Thank you for your responses regarding arranging transport to Hagley High School.
I will be arranging a meeting in January with Councillor Karl Perks and a representative from Hagley to discuss the possibility of establishing a school bus service from Stourport to Kidderminster, enabling pupils to catch the train to Hagley High School and possibly other schools including Heybridge, King Edwards Stourbridge, as well as various Birmingham schools.

Reception
Reception have enjoyed an exciting and festive week, beginning with their wonderful Nativity performance. Staff are incredibly proud of the children for their hard work in learning the songs and for the enthusiasm they brought to every moment on stage. The celebrations continued with a fun-filled pyjamas day, complete with laughter, festive treats, and seasonal crafts. The arrival of Santa’s workshop in the reception classroom added even more excitement, keeping the children busy as they planned Santa’s route, answered Christmas letters, and designed and wrapped presents. Alongside all the festive activities, the children still found time for impressive learning, using the book Lost and Found to inspire fantastic writing and exploring the different ways to make five. What a joyful, busy, and festive week it has been!
KS1
A massive 'WELL DONE!' to our wonderful children for their performances in this year's Nativity performance. The children have made us so proud with everything they did to prepare for the performances and for how well the children did on the day. Well done everyone! Thank you so much to our families for the beautiful costumes. In science, the children have been learning about the difference between survival and health. The class learnt about the importance of exercise as part of a healthy lifestyle. The class enjoyed investigating their heartrate and how different types of exercise affect it. The class tried yoga, running, skipping and balancing to predict and discover what raised their heartrate the most. It was lovely to hear about the different types of exercise that the children enjoy out of school and to see how positive they felt about exercise and their bodies. In English, the class have been reading a favourite text, 'The Gruffalo' and writing sentences using exciting openers. The class enjoyed finishing off the week with their Healthy Elfie and Rudolph Run sessions. A big 'THANK YOU' to the KS2 child leaders for helping the younger children follow the activities and have such a lovely time! On Friday, we have said goodbye to our student teacher, Miss Giles. The class have loved having her work with them and wish her lots of luck as she continues her training!
Year 3 / Year 4
This week, the children continued their hard work and effort to once again impress. In maths, the children have been using times table facts to answer questions and have really grown in confidence to find missing numbers, create families and look for links between groups of tables. The children really impressed Mr Tasker in their PE lessons, where they were asked to perform a gymnastic sequences to their peers. The creativity, confidence and control the children showed in their movements was excellent. In D&T, the children started to assemble their torches. They quickly realised designs and builds are quite different and showed great resilience to problem solve some difficulties encountered. This afternoon, the children had a 'fun session' in swimming which allowed them to build confidence and friendships in the pool. This was followed by a Rudolph Run and participation in the 'Healthy Elfie Festival' where dancing, singing and exercise was seen in abundance and it was lovely to see the children having so much fun.
Year 5
This week, Year 5 have worked incredibly hard across the curriculum. In English, the children completed an impressive STAR write based on The True Story of the Three Little Pigs, showcasing their creativity and growing confidence as writers. They have now begun exploring the second part of the story, with a strong focus on consolidating their understanding of sentence structure to further improve clarity and impact in their writing. In Maths, Year 5 have continued developing their knowledge of fractions, building fluency and confidence through a range of problem-solving activities. Elsewhere in the curriculum, the children enjoyed progressing their gymnastics skills in PE, demonstrating excellent teamwork and control. In Computing, Year 5 began learning about spreadsheets with Miss Gillum, showing enthusiasm as they explored how data can be organised and used effectively. In RE, the children have continued their journey through Advent, reflecting thoughtfully as we prepare for the coming of Christ. A huge well done to all of Year 5 for taking part in the Reindeer Run—your effort and enthusiasm were fantastic. Next week, Year 5 will be wrapping up their Advent unit in RE and completing their English cycle on The True Story of the Three Little Pigs. Well done, Year 5—keep up the brilliant work! 🌟
Year 6
It has been a wonderful week for Year 6, who have all worked incredibly hard and should feel very proud of themselves. This week, the children have been very clever writers! They produced fantastic biographies about Nikola Tesla, showcasing the progress they are making in their writing. They have now returned to their class novel Leila and the Blue Fox, ready to write amazing retells next week that will include a flashback to explore Leila’s character in greater depth. Some children also received their Jumping Jacks training, which they thoroughly enjoyed. They impressed Mr Lindley with their positive attitudes, enthusiasm, and focus throughout the session. In Science, the children investigated the effect of increasing the number of bulbs in a circuit. They asked thoughtful, probing questions and formed excellent hypotheses with some truly impressive scientific reasoning. In RE, Year 6 reflected on the ‘ingredients’ for a perfect preparation for Advent. Their ideas were both thoughtful and insightful, showing a deep understanding of this very special season. This morning, the children also took part in class Mass with their Reception friends today. Year 6 were delighted to host Reception and were wonderful role models during their first class Mass. The busy week ended with a fabulous Rudolph Run and the annual Healthy Elfie event. Once again, Year 6 demonstrated how responsible and mature they are, helping Mr Tasker with preparations and supporting the younger children throughout the afternoon. Well done to Year 6 on another great week!
