Dear Parents

We hope everyone has had a good week and keeping well under our present restrictions. The children have had a busy week enjoying their learning, working hard and thoroughly enjoying playing so happily with their friends. We hope you enjoy the photographs which illustrate some of the week's activities in school.

Today, your child has taken home their Home Learning exercise books. These are to be used if your child needs to isolate, or their class bubble closes. Your child's work will be provided via our new Seesaw Learning Platform. Your child's login is in the inside cover of their writing book. Work will not need to be printed, as your child can record their work using the app as well as in their Home Learning book.

Please ensure that:

  • The Home Learning books are kept safely at home until needed
  • Work is recorded neatly in books
  • Home Learning books are returned to school when your child returns to school
  • You remind your child of e-safety rules and expectations when working online

Please contact your child's class teacher if you have any questions regarding Home Learning.

Prior to the March lockdown, some library books were able to be returned to school before closure. Unfortunately, we are still unable to use the library due to Covid restrictions. If your child has their library book at home, we would appreciate it if it could be returned as soon as possible. Mrs Tasker will send out reminder slips as children may be unsure whether or not they had a library book at the time. Please note that the reminders are auto-generated and you do not need to worry about the number of days that the book is overdue!

Grab bag school packed lunches have proven to be very successful and the system is working well. We hope soon to move to provision of hot lunches and are awaiting confirmation of arrangements from our caterers. We will update you as soon as possible.

I have said before there can be a misconception that only Catholic children can apply to our school. We welcome applications from all families of all or no faith. If you know of any families who are presently applying for a school place please encourage them to contact me. Applications for Reception Class 2020 must be completed online by 15 January 2020. If you require any assistance please do not hesitate to contact Mrs Brown in the office.

We presently have three job opportunities in school staffing which are advertised on the school website and on Eteach.

We are very pleased to hear that cabling for Mass streaming was installed during the week. at St Wulstan’s church. The next step will be to fit a camera at the back of the Church so Sunday and daily Masses can be accessed from home. We will keep you updated as to when these start.

A reminder to visit our St Wulstan's Facebook page. There are frequent postings sharing and celebrating the many activities that go on within the school day and beyond. We hope you enjoy seeing these postings as much as your children are enjoying their learning and experiences. To visit the page go to https://m.facebook.com/stwulstanscatholicprimary

Can I please remind parents that if your child or a member of your household tests COVID positive that you contact school immediately so we can put procedures in place for the safety of everyone. This is especially important over a Saturday and Sunday so please email the school office as we check the emails regularly on a weekend.

We hope you have a lovely weekend and keep safe.

As part of their Light and Dark topic, Reception have been learning about Diwali this week. They have heard the story of Rama and Sita, they have made their own diva lamps and have even a go at making some wonderful Mehndi patterns. The children enjoyed trying a selection of food to celebrate Diwali. The children have also been continuing to learn about Remembrance Day.
