Dear Parents

I would like to start this week's newsletter by congratulating our Year 3 children who received their First Holy Communion last Sunday. The Mass was beautiful and the children behaved with great reverence and dignity and were once again a credit to you their parents and to their school. I would also like to thank all the children who came to church to sing in the choir, to serve on the altar or just to support their Year 3 friends. This support is very much appreciated by the staff and helped to make everything go so well. Thanks go to the parents for their kind donations of food for the 'breakfast', Mrs Thomas for the beautiful cake, Fr Richard for his lovely service and ongoing support for our whole school community, Deacon John for his continuing support, all the staff who give up so much of their free time and Mrs and Mr Mallinson for all the wonderful music. Congratulations Jessica, Alfie, Austin, Harrison, James, Bear, Coben, Tyler, Patrick, Molly, Woody, Ryan, Thomasin, Maggie, Donna Marie, William, Indiana and Finlay. Thank you all.

As I messaged earlier this week our Summer Fayre 2018 will be held on Friday 29 June 5pm-7pm in the school grounds. There will be a BBQ , cream tea and cakes and a bar so no need to cook tea that evening! Stalls will include tombola, bottle stall, hook a duck, football shootout and lots more for a lovely family evening. An appeal goes out today for filled jam jars and chocolate bar donations. As a thank you, next Friday will be a ' Non-uniform Day' when the children can wear their own choice of clothes in return for a filled jam jar and a bar of chocolate. These two stalls are always popular with the children and through your generosity well stocked, so thank you in advance.

We were delighted to hear this week that two of our Year 3 children are taking part in the Stourport Carnival in September as Harrison and Hermione were chosen as Prince and Rosebud. Congratulations children!

Thank you to all the parents for ensuring the children came to school so smartly in their winter uniform on Tuesday. The children looked absolutely beautiful and I am sure the photograph will reflect this. The photographer was amazed at not only the children's smart appearance but their excellent behaviour and co operation in everything he asked them to do. Well done children, we look forward to seeing the photograph within a couple of weeks when details will be sent out if you wish to purchase a copy.

The whole school trip to the Cotswold Wildlife Park will soon be upon us, Friday 13 July, details of payments can be found on Parentpay. Final payments must be made by 6 July in order for arrangements, group lists and coaches to be finalized. Thank you to everyone who has offered to come as helpers. Parent payment details have now been added to ParentPay and a letter inviting attendance at a safeguarding meeting on Wednesday 20 June sent out yesterday. Thank you.

On Wednesday, Year 4 had the exciting opportunity to work alongside Hartlebury Common Local Group to explore Hartlebury Common. It is part of an initiative to educate the children within the local area about the habitats and conservation occurring on the Common. The children hunted for plant species, identified pond life and explored the heather trails on an exciting morning. The enthusiasm from the wonderful volunteers inspired the children to share their knowledge and develop their understanding of plant and animal species, alongside learning about how the volunteers are conserving the area for future generations. It was a lovely morning and we are fortunate to have such a great resource so close to school. Well done Year 4.

A massive thank you to Mr Ginns who kindly donated some plants for our school grounds. The children in Gardening club have enjoyed planting them on the bank in recent weeks. Thank you.

Yesterday, we were treated to a wonderful musical showcase as Year 3 and the KS2 choir performed to their parents and the school community. Year 3 performed a selection of songs from their recent day at Winterfold school and KS2 performed a medley of songs learned in their lunchtime club. Listening to children sing with such enthusiasm is always uplifting and yesterday certainly a perfect example of this. Well done everyone!

On Wednesday 27 June we are holding our annual New Intake Evening for parents of children starting at St Wulstan's in September. Even if you already have a child in school it is important that you attend this meeting as this will be an opportunity to give you information and for you to ask any questions you may have. We look forward to seeing many of you then.

We wish you all an enjoyable weekend and look forward to seeing you on Monday.
