Message from Mrs Brocklesby

We had a wonderful start to our Feast Day Celebrations today as Father Richard celebrated Mass with the whole school. During Father Richard's Homily he told us Saint Wulstan stood out as an inspirational Saint to follow. I feel that during Mass we all as a community shone as we lived out our Mission,

'We learn and grow with Jesus to love, inspire and serve others.'

FACTS ABOUT SAINT WULSTAN

Saint Wulstan is the Patron Saint of Vegetarians.

Having been distracted one day from his devotions by the smell of roast goose being prepared for his dinner, Saint Wulstan immediately decided to give up all meat for the rest of his life.

Saint Wulstan lived until the age of 87 and died on 19 January 1095, that date is recognised by the church as his feast day when his life, good works and miracles are remembered.

Saint Wulstan was later canonised in 1203. .

THE 2025 JUBILEE YEAR

The 2025 Jubilee Year 'Pilgrims of Hope' is now underway.

The Jubilee Year began with the opening of the Holy Door in St Peter’s Basilica in Rome, on Tuesday 24 December 2024 and runs to the Feast of Epiphany 2026.

Archbishop Bernard celebrated Mass to mark the opening of the Year, at St Chad’s Cathedral on Sunday 29 December 2024.

The Year of Jubilee launch for schools in the Diocese of Birmingham is now only 8 days away!  On Friday 24th January all children and staff will participate in this important event together.  Archbishop Bernard, Bishop Timothy and many schools within our Diocese will lead the event.
Next week we will learn the Learn our Jubilee Songs so we can participate in the live stream.

Message from Mrs Warnett

This week, we have welcomed two members of the Catholic Schools Inspectorate, Mrs Walsh and Miss Cole, who have worked with the Local Governing Body, the  children, their families and staff to identify what is going well at our school in Catholic Life, RE and Collective Worship. It has been a privilege to share all of the wonderful things about our school with Mrs Walsh and Miss Cole and we look forward to sharing the report with our families as soon as we are able to. I would like to thank everyone who has contributed to this process especially the children. They have been exceptional in the way they have behaved, worked in lessons and contributed to a range of liturgies. I would also like to thank the staff, especially Mrs Freitas, our RE Lead, for their hard work and dedication to the school. Well done everyone!
