Message from Mrs Brocklesby

As we reach the end of another busy and rewarding school year. I want to take this opportunity to thank you for all your continued support and partnership. The summer term has been filled with fantastic achievements, exciting events and many moments that have made us all proud of our school community.

School Performances
Our pupils in year 6 amazed us with their production of Oliver– a wonderful showcase of talent, confidence, and teamwork. Thank you to all who attended and supported behind the scenes.

Year 6 Leavers
A heartfelt goodbye to our Year 6 pupils, who leave us ready to take on new challenges at High School. We are incredibly proud of the young people they’ve become, and we wish them every success for the future. We also wish Mrs Freitas lots of luck as she takes on the role of Vice-Principal at Saint Joseph's.

Learning Highlights
Across the school, pupils have continued to impress with their hard work and enthusiasm for learning. From creative writing projects to science investigations and local trips, it’s been a term packed with meaningful learning.

See you all on Wednesday 3rd September!

Dear God,
Thank You for this school year –
for the friends we’ve made,
the things we’ve learned,
and the fun we’ve had.

As summer begins,
keep us safe in our adventures,
kind in our hearts,
and thankful for each sunny day.

Help us rest, play, and grow,
and bring us back together in September,
ready to learn, share, and shine once more.

Amen.

Reception and Year 1

What a brilliant end to the year for Reception and Year 1!

They have continued to work incredibly hard this week, and we are all so proud of how far they have come this year. On Monday afternoon, they enjoyed watching the Year 6 production of Oliver!, which was a real treat. On Wednesday, we held our annual talent show—it was lovely to see some of the children taking part and sharing their amazing talents. The children have had a fantastic year, and we would all like to wish them a restful, fun-filled summer!

Year 2 and 3

The class have had a super end to the year! On Monday, Year 2 and 3 had a wonderful day by the river with the Canal and River Trust, learning all about rivers as part of their geography work. The children started off by learning how to keep SAFE near water (Stay Away From the Edge!) before learning about the different parts of the river. The children recreated river maps using rope, identifying the source and mouth of the River Severn. They then identified tributary rivers, meanders and an estuary. Wow! The children enjoyed finding places they know to label on the map. The children took a walk along the river, learning about local features. Where the River Stour joins the River Severn, they enjoyed a game of Pooh Sticks! After lunch in the beautiful sunshine, the children enjoyed learning some STEM skills, investigating the PH levels of the water. Finally, the children had a wonderful time creating some beautiful sketches of man-made and natural features they could see around the river.
We were so impressed with the children’s questions and ideas and how quickly they picked up some very tricky vocabulary! Thank you so much to the Canal and River Trust for the amazing work they do to support our local geography work. They learnt so much! The class have enjoyed the end of term activities, especially participating in and watching the annual Talent Show! They had some of their maths lessons in the Year 4 classroom this week to help them get used to their new classroom for September.
We are sorry to be saying goodbye to Mr Dudley at the end of this year, but thank him so much for his hard work this year and wish him lots of luck in his future! Mrs Tasker and Mr Dudley are so proud of the class and have reflected lots this week on how much the children have developed and matured in so many ways this year. Well done children on such a wonderful year and enjoy your well-deserved summer break!

Year 4

What a lovely end to the year! Year 4 performed brilliantly on Tuesday afternoon and evening in the production of Oliver. They sang confidently, acted enthusiastically and were a wonderful support act to the Year 6 class. In science, the children completed their final lessons by researching some of the natural changes to habitats across the year and some of the changes caused by humans. They also researched food chains and were able to compose food chains, labelling each part with scientific vocabulary. In RE, the children looked at the roles and responsibilities of people in the church. The children were able to recall symbols and responsibilities associated with the Sacraments of Marriage and the Sick. They shared their own experiences and understanding of these Sacraments with great confidence. In history, the children researched the diversification of Stourport from an industrial town to a leisure town. They created detailed information pages about the fun and exciting things Stourport has to offer and talked about their own experiences of some of these activities. Mr Tasker is very proud of the children's effort and attitude towards their learning and school life this year. Well done Year 4, enjoy a well-earned break over the summer and see you all in Upper Key Stage Two next year!

Year 5

What an end to the year! Year 5 should be very proud of all of their hard work and everything that they have achieved. A well deserved break is now what is needed! This week the children completed their RE work, finding out about the Sacraments of Marriage and Holy Orders and also worked hard completing their art self-portraits. The creativity was inspirational, and Miss McGowan was very impressed with the end results! The children also worked hard in maths, finding out about volume and capacity and were also learning how to convert measures form metric to imperial and vice versa. It has been a year full of hard work, focus and fun and I know that Miss McGowan is very much looking forward to the new school year and is excited about moving up with the children. The class have been a wonderful class and have so much to be proud of. Have a great summer Year 5 and we will see you in Year 6! So much to look forward to and so much to achieve!

Year 6

As the school year draws to a close, the staff would like to express how proud they are of every single Year 6 child. This academic year has flown by, and each pupil has shown remarkable growth, not only in their learning, but also in their confidence, kindness and resilience. They are reminded to always trust in God, especially during times that may feel new or uncertain. Each child is wonderfully made, and there is no doubt they will go on to achieve amazing things. It has been a true joy to witness them challenge themselves, support one another, and approach every opportunity with enthusiasm and courage. Although farewells are never easy, it is clear that they are ready for the exciting journey that secondary school will bring. Mrs Freitas is incredibly proud of them all. She hopes they enjoy a well-deserved summer break, and never forget that once a part of the school family, always a part of it. Good luck to each Year 6 pupil and never stop shining!

Oliver Production
A huge congratulations to our incredible Year 6 children for their fantastic performance of Oliver! Their hard work, energy and talent truly lit up the stage. From the powerful singing to the heartfelt acting, every moment was a joy to watch. They should all be so proud of what they’ve achieved! Bravo! A special Thank you to Years 4 and 5 for their support. Their singing was beautiful.
