Friday 25 January

Dear Parents

As I am sure you are aware it has been a very busy week in school. On Wednesday and Thursday we welcomed two Diocesan RE Inspectors who carried out a Section 48 Inspection. Over the two days they inspected the teaching and learning in Religious Education at St Wulstan’s and the Catholic Life and Collective Worship of the school. We now await their final written report in a few weeks and as soon as we receive it we will publicise it on our school website. The teaching staff have work tirelessly both in the preparation for, and during the inspection and I would like to thank and congratulate the whole school community for all their hard work. I include in this all the children who are so well behaved and who rise to every occasion and make us proud of them, all the teaching assistants who support learning in classrooms, the lunchtime supervisors, the admin staff who ensure the smooth running of the school in the School Office and those staff who keep the school clean and maintain a lovely environment to work in. I would also like to thank the Academy Committee of the school who work tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure that St Wulstan’s is the wonderful school that we all want it to be. And finally, I’d like to thank you as parents, for your continued support for our lovely school.

Yesterday’s Mass to celebrate the Feast of St Wulstan was, as ever , an uplifting and joyous occasion. Year 5 and Year 6 children read with great clarity and reverence .The whole school sang with such energy and en thusiasm, a beautiful way to start a day. It was lovely to have so many parents and friends join us for coffee afterwards. Next Friday Mass will be held in Year 2 classroom at 9.15 am, it would be lovely to see many of you there. On 7 March the whole school will participate in ‘World Book Day’ by dressing up as book characters. This is always an exciting day in school and I am sure this year will be no exception. Next week, your child will bring home a letter from Mrs Tasker outlining the event as this year every class will dress up in relation to the class text they are reading this term. We hope that by giving plenty of warning it will enable you to have time to organise costumes over half term. The school Book Fair will also be in school hall that week so the children will be able to use their World Book Day voucher.

Booking for Spring Parents Evening is now available via the school life app so please check your diaries. We look forward to seeing you. Every Tuesday,Year 1 and Year 2 are having a lovely opportunity to play cricket with a member of Worcester Cricket Club. The children are thoroughly enjoying themselves as well as learning new skills. Please ensure your child has their PE kit and pumps in school for these lessons. The ‘Ashes’ here we come!

On behalf of all the staff I hope you have a lovely weekend with your children, they were an absolute credit to you all this week. K E Savage
