Message from Mrs Brocklesby
We are filled with joy and pride as we share that last Sunday, five of our wonderful Year 3 and 4 children made their First Holy Communion at Saint Wulstan and Saint Thomas of Canterbury Church.
It was a truly special and sacred occasion, marking an important step in their spiritual journey. The children participated with reverence and grace, supported by their families, teachers, and parish community. Their preparation and dedication shone through, making the day memorable for everyone involved.
We thank all who helped make this celebration so meaningful, especially Father Richard, Mrs Tasker, Mrs Freitas and our supportive school staff.
Congratulations to all our communicants – may this be the beginning of a lifelong relationship with faith, love, and community.
I am delighted to share some exciting news regarding a valued member of our school community.
Mrs. Freitas has been seconded to the interim role of Vice Principal at St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School in Droitwich. She will begin this new chapter on 1st September 2025, on a one-year secondment.
While we will certainly miss Mrs. Freitas’ presence and leadership at St Wulstan’s, we are incredibly proud of her achievement and know she will bring the same dedication and excellence to her new role.
We thank Mrs. Freitas for her continued commitment to Catholic education and wish her every success in this exciting opportunity.
To support our pupils and to help them feel confident and excited about the year ahead, we will be informing you and the children on Monday of their class teacher for September.
Additionally, we are pleased to confirm that transition sessions with their new teacher will take place during the week beginning 7th July. This important activity will give children the opportunity to spend time in their new classroom environment, meet their teacher, and begin building relationships that will support a positive start to the new academic year.
We thank you for your continued support and trust in our school. We remain committed to providing a nurturing and inspiring environment for all our pupils and look forward to an exciting year ahead.

Reception and Year 1
Reception and Year 1 have had a very productive week full of exciting learning opportunities. In Geography, they explored Northern Ireland and discovered fascinating facts about the Titanic. In History, they learned about brave individuals who have helped shape the world we live in today. During Design and Technology, the children began designing their own puppets with great enthusiasm. In Science, they learned about deciduous and evergreen trees and enjoyed a nature walk to spot examples of each in their local environment.
Year 2 and 3
The children were excited to come to school on Monday to congratulate the children who had celebrated their First Holy Communion on Sunday in Year 3 and 4. The children were so keen to say a big, 'Well done!' to the children and had a wonderful time partying in the hall in the afternoon! We are very grateful to the parishioners from church who helped us set up a special celebration after Mass on Sunday as well. We have all had a lovely time! The class have been learning about rocks in science and used AI to help them identify different types of rocks. Some children brought in rocks from home that they have found and there was great excitement whenever a fossil was spotted!
Year 4
The class are very proud of the children who celebrated their First Holy Communion on Sunday and thoroughly enjoyed the party on Monday. It was wonderful to see how many children, without prompting, went to ask the children how it went and offer their congratulations! In PE, the children enjoyed an extra-long PE session with Mr Joiner and impressed him with the skills and knowledge they have been developing all year. On Tuesday, the class had a visit from the Worcestershire Wildlife Trust and enjoyed pond dipping, classification skills and using their observations to create beautiful artwork. Thank you to the Worcestershire Wildlife Trust, who always make their natural science workshops so engaging and informative.
Year 5
Year 5 have worked very hard this week, Their determination, focus and resilience during their assessments this week has been commendable and Miss McGowan has said how very proud she is of all of them. The children also were able to have another fun coaching session with Kidderminster Harriers and their hard work continued on the football field. The children worked so week together in their teams and were very good at supporting each other, wonderful skills to see. The children loved their computing session this week, starting anew unit where they had to design games. Miss Homsin said that the children were great at this and it is clear to see how their computing skills are growing. Well done Year 5! To end the week, the children attended school Mass and sang beautifully. Throughout the week the children have also been practicing their songs to support our Year 6 class in their production of Oliver. The children are also very close to finishing their textiles projects and will complete the finishing touches next week. What a busy week! Well done!
Year 6
It's been another busy week for Year 6. On Tuesday, the Year 6 children took part in an exciting workshop led by Worcestershire Wildlife. The session helped the children consolidate their understanding of how animal limbs have evolved in response to survival needs, including movement, social behaviour and feeding. Then they had their next session with Kiddi Harriers, where the children learnt about the dangers of tobacco and the harm it can cause to the body. This was delivered through sporting activities and skill-based games that kept the children active and engaged. As they took part in fun, energetic exercises, they also learnt how smoking can negatively impact physical performance, such as reducing stamina, affecting breathing and slowing recovery. The session combined fitness with education, helping the children understand the importance of staying smoke-free while developing their coordination, teamwork and decision-making skills. In Science, the children began an exciting new topic on light. They explored how we see and identified the main parts of the eye, gaining a clearer understanding of how light travels and how our eyes process visual information. To end the week on a reflective note, the children led the school Mass, where Fr Richard shared a meaningful message about the importance of following our Good Shepherd. He encouraged everyone to listen with open hearts and to make kind, thoughtful choices in their daily lives. A special thank you to the Year 6 readers. It has also been a busy and exciting week filled with rehearsals for Oliver! The children are fully immersed in their roles, showing great enthusiasm and a strong commitment to perfecting their individual parts. Have a lovely weekend, everyone!
Whole School Mass - The Sacred Heart of Jesus
Today, the children participated beautifully in our school Mass, which centred on the theme of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, a reminder of His boundless love and compassion. Fr Richard reminded us that in every season of life, whether marked by joy or touched by sadness, we are always invited to turn to Jesus, the Good Shepherd, who gently leads and comforts us along our journey. We offer special thanks to Fr Richard for celebrating Mass with us in school, and to the altar servers and readers whose reverent contributions helped make the Mass so meaningful.
