Dear Parents and Carers

We hope everyone enjoys the Summer Fair this evening. We would like to thank everyone for their generosity and support with bottles, raffle donations, jam jars, chocolates, books etc. Many parents and carers have been quietly working hard in the background to ensure tonight is a successful evening and we are so grateful. We have received raffle prizes from many local companies and we will highlight them next week to thank them for their support too. The Fair starts at 3.45pm as soon as all the children are dismissed and will end at 6.00pm. Please join us for a relaxed couple of hours in our lovely school community.

Tuesday was a very important day for our Year 6 children as they were confirmed by Bishop David Evans. The Mass was really lovely with the children reading and singing absolutely beautifully; they also showed great reverence having been extremely well prepared to receive the Sacrament. The staff are all proud of our young people who are such a credit to their parents and their school. So many staff and Parish members helped to make the evening go so smoothly and I would like to thank them all, but special thanks must go to Mrs Freitas whose work preparing and supporting the children has been exceptional and of course Fr Richard for his support and guidance during the children's preparation. A massive thank you to all the children from Years 2, 3, 4 and 5 who came to Mass to support Year 6 with their singing. It was a lovely occasion which the children continued to celebrate in school with a party and wonderful celebration cake. Well done Year 6!

Rehearsals are now well under way for our summer production of  'Matilda' and the children are very excited. Although Year 6 are playing the main roles the musical involves all the children in Year 3 , 4  and 5 who will be performing a song and dance within the production. The two performances will be on Tuesday 11 July and Wednesday 12 July at 6.30pm. Tickets are now being distributed so please return your ticket slip sent out this week. The calendar has been updated so please check on the school website.

It’s been another busy week in Year 5! We started with a visit from Mrs Hill, our Chair of Governors, who came to talk to us for our RE Vocations Month. It was very interesting to listen to Mrs Hill talk about her vocation and we were able to ask some really great questions that allowed us to think about what it is that God is calling us to be. We also had a First Aid training session. In this, we were learnt what we should do in emergency situations and we had to try the techniques ourselves. It was hard work, but we feel like we are now much more knowledgeable! We also all shared our home learning this week. It was lovely to see and hear what everyone had chosen to learn about and it was pleasing to see how everyone has grown in confidence when speaking to the class!

This term Reception Class have been growing a variety of plants and vegetables in their outdoor learning area. This week they were excited to be able to try some of the peas and broad beans. There were a mixture of opinions about how they tasted!

As part of our Geography topic, Year 2 have been learning all about weather patterns. They have been looking at the differences between seasonal and daily weather and have been observing and recording the weather in Stourport over the last two weeks. The children then created their own forecasts using satellite images which they then presented to the class.

We hope everyone has a lovely weekend and look forward to seeing you on Monday
