Year 2 Staff

Mrs Morgan - Year 2 Class Teacher

All About Year 2

Welcome to Year 2. This  is an important year in which the children become more independent in their learning and produce some wonderful work. It is always lovely to see how much the children seem to suddenly 'grow up' in Year 2! The children begin to develop a broader understanding of the world around them and foster new interests and hobbies.

In Year 2, we have daily English, reading and mathematics lessons. Children apply the phonics learning from Year 1 as part of their English work. We will practise spelling rules and handwriting through the week. We will learn science, history, geography, art and D&T through our Discovery topic lessons. We have PE lessons every Monday afternoon. Our PSHE lessons are taught through our 'Jigsaw' programme, which emphasises mindfulness and understanding of our feelings and friendships.

We will experience a wide range of topic based learning this year. Please visit this page later in the year to see the range of exciting learning opportunities that we have enjoyed.

If you follow our school Facebook page, you will be able to enjoy some photos and videos of our exciting times! We look forward to times in which we can invite our families into school to see what we have achieved too.

End of KS1 Assessments ("SATs")

At the end of year 2, the children will complete end of key stage assessments (sometimes known as SATs). The children will not be aware of this and assessments are carried out in small groups over several weeks to avoid disruption. If you would like to ask any questions about these assessments, please do feel free to speak to Mrs Morgan
