Dear Parents

Thank you to all the Year 6 parents who attended our Information evening this week, with many of you have saying how useful and supportive you found the evening. We would be grateful if you could complete the questionnaire and return it to school as your feedback is always valued. Thank you to Miss Hill and Mrs Horan for their presentations. As you now complete your applications for transfer to High school if you have any questions or would like some guidance please do not hesitate to contact myself or Miss Hill.Again thank you to all the parents who attended our Reception Class Information Evening on Wednesday in the school hall where Mrs Edwards explained for example, the phonics programme we use, reading system and number support. My thanks to Mrs Edwards and Mrs Freeman for their presentation. Your feedback indicates that you founds the evening extremely useful but do please do speak to Mrs Edwads if you have any queries or concerns at any time.

Many thanks to all the parents who attended our Macmillan tea and cake afternoon last Friday. We were delighted with the number of parents, grandparents and parishioners who joined us and we raised over £125 which far exceeded our expectations. There was a lovely atmosphere in the hall and we were also so pleased to hear all the compliments regarding our Year 6 children, who served and chatted with our visitors. They are a credit to you as parents and to our school.

This morning we celebrated our annual Harvest Mass in school . It was as ever a lovely occasion with extremely generous donations of fruit and vegetables. Thank you very much. As usual our harvest gifts were sold and the proceeds donated to the Father Sunny Trust – a charity supported by both school and parish. I am delighted to say we raised over £260. Fr Sunny is well known in the parish and works with the poor and disadvantaged in the Garo Hills region of North East India. If you would like tofind out more about Fr Sunny log onto www.thesunnytrust.org.uk

Well done to all our KS1 children who, after Mass, sang their harvest songs so beautifully  for their mums and dads. They were so enthusiastic and excited to share their music. Thank you children, you were a delight to hear and see. A special well done to Reception class - their first musical production!

Last Friday, as part of our involvement with the Stourport Sports Partnership, a group of our Year 6 pupils attended ‘Jumping Jaxx’ training with pupils from other Wyre Forest schools The children will use this training now with our Reception Class children at lunchtime play. This will encourage focused physical development in a fun and purposeful way. It is lovely to see how reassuring and protective our Year 6 children are with our little ones. Well done Year 6!

On Wednesday 10 October the PTA will be holding their Annual General Meeting in the school hall. The The PTA had a very successful year last year and worked very hard, but are very keen to listen to all new ideas and welcome all new parents whether they are new to the school or have just not been to PTA meetings before. For those parents who are new to the school the PTA meetings are a good way to get to know other parents and to socialise whilst supporting the school. There is no pressure to take a leading role so please do come along – the more people who get involved the better!

Parents Evening will be held onWednesday 7 November 4.00-7.00pm and Thursday 8 November 5.00 - 7.00pm. Please sign up for an appointment via the school life app.

On Monday 22 October our school photographer will be in school to take individual photographs of every child. We will ensure photographs with siblings are also taken. We would ask that the children wear winter uniform of white shirt /blouse and tie .If you would like a photograph of your child with their baby or pre school siblings please come into the school hall at 8.30am for a group photograph.

.We will be holding our ‘Open Morning’ on Saturday 20 October 9.30-11.30 am and all current parents and prospective parents are invited to visit, chat to staff and look around the school. There will be tea and coffee in the hall providing an opportunity for prospective parents to chat more informally with myself and other staff. Please feel free to come along and take advantage of this opportunity and encourage any friends or neighbours with school age children to come along too. As I have said before there can be a misconception that only Catholic children can apply to our school. We welcome applications from all families of all or no faith. If you know of any families who are presently applying for a school place please encourage them to attend the Open morning or contact me to arrange a visit and tour of the school. Applications for Reception Class 2019 must be completed online by 15 January 2019.

Please remember if you ever have any concerns regarding your child, academic, social or emotional please speak to me or any member of the teaching staff so we can work together to solve them.

We hope you have a lovely weekend.
