Dear Parents

It has been an extremely busy week in school with, Mass last Sunday, CTA sporting tournaments, Reception class trip to the Wyre Forest , the arrival of the book fair, Year 2 Mass this morning and Parents Evening!

Today our Under 9 and Under 11 boys took part in the CTA football tournament at Winterfold school. The boys played brilliantly with keenly fought matches showing great individual skill and teamwork. The Under 9 team won three matches, drew one and lost one. The Under 11 team won one match, drew two and lost two. Unfortunately neither teams managed to reach the finals but certainly were a credit to their school . It was lovely to have so many parents come along to both support and assist with coaching. Thank you and well done boys! Photographs will be on the website and in next week's newsletter.

Tomorrow, Saturday 10th, our KS2 girls will part in the Catholic Teachers' Association annual Netball Tournament. We couldn't be more proud of our teams as they always show excellent sportsmanship and determination to do their best and will be very worthy competitors. They play well together as a team and it is lovely to see how they have developed their skills over the last year. Our thanks go to all the staff and parents support our girls but particularly to Mrs Portman, Mrs Tasker and Mrs Jones for the time they have given so generously and all work they have done with the girls. We look forward to telling you more next week. Good luck girls!

Reception Class today had their Winter Wonderland trip to the forest which had been cancelled before Christmas due to the snow. The children have had a lovely day at the Wyre Forest Discovery Centre learning more about the wonderful world around them. I was able to join them for lunch and it was lovely to both see their excitement and hear of their morning activities. They were congratulated on their enthusiasm and excellent manners and behavior by the Discovery Centre staff. Well done Reception Class! We will enjoy seeing all your photographs on the school website.

Thank you to all the parents and parishioners who joined us for our weekly class Mass this morning. The children were wonderful as ever, praying and reading with great reverence and maturity. Well done Year 2! Thank you to everyone who supported our School Book Fair. Although we don't yet have a final figure for the commission earned, Miss Tasker believes it is a possibly a record sales. The commission will be used to purchase new library books for the children. I would like to thank all the people who through their generosity have enabled us to buy yet more books. Thank you. We have included some more photographs of the wonderful World Book Day celebrated last Thursday. Look out for more on the school website.

Next Friday, as part of our Lenten preparation we will celebrate a whole school Retreat Day led by Dan Callow of One Life Music. Many of you may remember their visit last year which was a memorable day of music, workshops, prayer and reflection. The children sing many of Dan's hymns and so meet and to work alongside him will be a great experience. We look forward to telling you more about it in next week's newsletter.

Thank you to all parents and carers who attended Parents' Evening this week. We appreciate the time taken to complete feedback questionnaires and your extremely positive comments are very much appreciated. Please remember if you ever have any concerns regarding your child, academic, social or emotional please speak to me or any member of the teaching staff so we can work together to solve them.
