Dear Parents

We hope you all well and keeping safe, we do miss you and hope your extended families are well too. St Wulstan’s staff and Academy Committee Representatives are keeping well and we all continue to work towards supporting our school community.

You are no doubt well aware of the announcement about schools potentially opening for pupils in Reception, Years 1 and 6 from 1st June. The government guidance can be found here:

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/closure-of-educational-settings-information-for-parents-and-carers/reopening-schools-and-other-educational-settings-from-1-june

We have distributed a short survey to the parents and carers of children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 6. This will help us to plan and at this early stage it is important to gauge your views. If you have not already done so please could you respond to the survey by 8:00 pm today, Friday 15 May. Thank you.

Further information for all parents will be distributed next week and a push notification will be sent to indicate any new documents regarding schools reopening.

Please keep an eye on the school website and our Facebook page where we will continue to upload any other information and guidance during school closure from support agencies and the Government. These are found under the Coronavirus tab.

Can I also remind you that If anyone has, at anytime, a concern regarding a child’s well being or a safeguarding concern please email the school office secretary@wulsev.worcs. sch.uk ,  or telephone 01299 877808 immediately. The important thing now is to keep well, keep safe and stay at home and we look forward to all being back together.

Many of our families are presently going through massive changes in their employment, family circumstances or entering times of financial hardship. It could be that they are eligible for some support through Free Schools Meals. Further information and online application can be found on www.worcestershire.gov.uk even if only for a short time measure this could help.

Thank you to all the parents who came down to school to collect extra books and observed the socially distancing system. It was lovely to see familiar faces even if from afar!

I would like to share news of one of our children who has been making wristbands during lockdown. Ryan, Year 5, set up a Just Giving Crowdfunding page hoping to raise £100 from the sale of these to family and friends. I am both delighted and proud to say Ryan has exceeded his target and raised £239 for ’Help the NHS fight coronavirus’. This is a marvellous achievement and I look forward to wearing my specially designed Welsh, green, red and white one on St David’s Day! Well done Ryan!

It was also lovely to hear from one of our mums this week.  Karen Blanchfield has been sewing for the NHS and the frontline key workers since lockdown due to a national call out from “for the love of scrubs” working with NHS trusts UK. They asked for people with sewing machine to help with PPE. She has since started making masks for sale to the general public. If you are interested then please contact her via Facebook .

Again your children’s photographs from home are a joy to receive and thank you for continuing to send them to us. Looking at the photographs we’ve received I think the standard of baking and gardening must be at a peak. This has been a wonderful positive from such a dreadful time and the children’s faces reflect the fun they’ve had in the garden and kitchen. PTA cake sales will take on a whole new direction.

Next week’s work will be uploaded ready for 5pm on Sunday and a push notification will be sent.

God bless and take care, from all the staff

Well done to all our children!
