Dear Parents

It has been a very busy week in school with our Year 6 children sitting their SATs . The children have been preparing all year and they are very glad that they are finally over! We are still focusing on writing assessments which are teacher assessed then moderated but the formal testing is completed. I have to congratulate them all, because whatever the results of these tests are, the children can be very proud of the way they have approached them. Their maturity and positive attitudes are credit to them and they showed that they are ready to move on to the next stage of their school careers in September. Well done Year 6 !

Next term it will be the turn of Year 1 children to take part in statutory testing as they complete their phonics screening check in the week beginning 11 June. As the children are used to their routine of daily phonics lesson they will totally unaware that this is anything different. It is crucial that all children have full attendance and arrive at school promptly in order for them to achieve to their full potential in these assessments.

There will be another popular cake sale for the children on Tuesday 22 May. This time a request for donations is sent to the families of Year2, Year 3 and Year 4. As well as the pleasure this brings to the children, these sales raise a fabulous amount towards PTA funds so thank you in advance for your ongoing generosity.

Please note two new calendar dates for information meetings for our current Years 4 and 5 parents to hear about the residential trips to Manor Adventure and Alton Castle planned for September. The meetings, this coming Tuesday, May 22 at 3.35 pm will be held in the classrooms, are for children and parents. Mrs Mallinson has invited the parents of KS2 Choir and Year 3 children to a short informal musical performance on Thursday 14 June at 3pm. This will be an opportunity for the Year 3 children to share the songs they learned at their recent music day at Winterfold school and for the KS2 choir to perform their songs from this school year. We look forward to seeing you there.

Thank you to everyone who attended the school disco last night. It was a great success and clearly the children had a fabulous time. I must add the children's manners and behaviour made the whole evening a pleasure to be involved in. A terrific £347 was made was raised for the playground development. Well done everyone! We have had a lovely celebratory day for the Royal wedding and dressed up in our finery. The weather has been kind to us and we have all enjoyed an afternoon playtime complete with a choc ice in the sunshine. Thank you for your donations towards Phase Two of the playground development.

Thank you to all the families who attended our school led Mass last Sunday, the singing was beautiful. This Sunday is the Family Mass at 10.00am when many of our children will be participating by singing, reading, altar serving and hospitality. All families are welcome.

We hope you have an enjoyable weekend and this lovely weather stays with us.
