Dear Parents

This morning ,Fr Richard and Deacon John joined us to celebrate Mass on St Wulstan's feast day. It was a lovely Mass and our thanks go to Fr Richard and to all the parents and other family members who were able to join us for this occasion.

Again this week Mr Tasker, Mrs Tasker, Mrs Portman and Mrs Jones have been holding trials for the annual Catholic Teachers Association Football and Netball competitions for the Under 11s team. Mr Tasker, PE coordinator, has asked me to say a huge thank you to the children for showing their support for the school in participating in the trials. The group of triallists showed confidence, maturity and sportsmanship throughout the session. Well done everyone! Letters will be sent out confirming your child's place in the team so please return the slip as soon as possible. Thank you.

Unfortunately once again we have received complaints about inconsiderate parking. A parent of our school was extremely abusive to a local resident who had simply asked that they did not block their driveway so they could exit their own home. This is a dreadful example to set to the children and reflects so negatively on our school. It is not the first time this has happened. I cannot, and should not have to, patrol the road every morning and afternoon. I have once again requested that a traffic warden attends the road so if cars are parked illegally they will be booked. I apologize to the vast majority of parents who park safely and considerately and whose children may have overheard the foul language used in the altercation. I would ask If you witness such an event that you let me know and if possible pass on the vehicle details. Many thanks for the support we receive from so many of our families.

It was lovely to welcome so many Year 6 parents into school this afternoon. The children were delighted to show their art work that they were working on last term. Their work was inspired by the style of Damien Hirst and the end results were very impressive. I would like to reassure you no sharks or formaldehyde were involved! Well done Year 6!

I am sure many of the children will have mentioned that yesterday I visited classes with our School Improvement Partner. It was delightful to see how focused and enthusiastic the children were in their learning. Mrs Barkway was extremely impressed not only with the children's attitude but also their good manners and motivation to work. We were very proud of them all, well done children!

This Sunday, 21 January, we have school Mass in Church at 10.00am, again celebrating the Feast of St Wulstan. It is always lovely to see so many of our children and their families at these Masses. Of course it is particularly important for children in Year 3, who will be receiving the Sacraments of Reconciliation and First Holy Communion this year. Also we hope to see many Year 6 children who so recently received the Sacrament of Confirmation. We look forward to seeing you then.

Dates for this term have been updated. Please see the calendar tab on our website for further important dates this term. If at any time you have a concern or need to speak to me or your class teacher please do not hesitate to contact us. Wishing you a happy St Wulstan's day and a lovely weekend.
