27 December 2020

Dear Parents

It is hard to believe this weekend is the first Sunday of Advent as we begin to look forward and enjoy for the wonderful season of preparation before Christmas. It has been an exciting week in school as the children have begun putting together their Christmas Nativity display and learning their class carol to share with you on the website at the end of term.

On Friday 11 December, we have ‘Christmas Jumper Day’. We don’t wish anyone to go to the expense of buying a special jumper and if your child doesn’t already have one any jumper can be customized with a bit of imagination and a bit of tinsel. The children will still need to wear their school skirts or trousers with the jumper just replacing their school jumper. We would like this to be a charitable event to support those less fortunate than ourselves especially in these times when many families are struggling financially. We would like to support our local Food Bank and we ask for a dried food or tinned donation. We hope this will allow all of us to reflect on the true meaning of Christmas. Apparently the foods in short supply are: tinned goods, for example, rice puddings, custard, fruit, corned beef, ham, spam, spaghetti, macaroni cheese, potatoes, peas, carrots, sweetcorn. Other items: long grain rice, jam, squash (dilute), small jars of coffee, curry and pasta sauces, milk, shampoo, deodorant, razors, shaving soap, washing  powder, toilet rolls. Many thanks for your support.

Thursday 17 December is our Christmas Party Day- a major highlight in the life of St Wulstan’s children (and staff!) Children come in their party clothes and an exciting day of festivities ends with a gift from a very special person! Please remember lunch is sausage and chips all provided by school so your child will not require a packed lunch or hot meal order on that day.

We are pleased to say that from Monday 7 December our caterers will be able to supply hot lunches for the children. A copy of the menu is available on the school website and meals can be ordered and paid for in the usual way via ParentPay. If your child is in KS1 and receives a Universal Free School meal you still need to order on line though you will not be charged. If you have any queries please contact Mrs Brown in the school office by email or phone.

As you are aware it was necessary to close a class Bubble this week. The children and staff in this Bubble are having to self isolate and not leave their home at all for fourteen days. We hope everyone will be able to return safe and well on Wednesday 9 December. If at any point any child or family member in your home is tested positive for COVID-19 please ensure you email us at secretary@wulsev.worcs.sch.uk so we can put procedures into place to ensure everyone in our school community is protected. We check emails throughout the weekend. This week has been a reminder that everyone needs to maintain vigilant and adhere to all the COVID 19 safety guidance. Please enter and leave the school site as quickly as possible and not linger on the area outside school. All children, unless walking home independently, must be collected by an adult and cannot be sent out of the school on their own to meet parents at the top of the drive. We are extremely appreciative of all the support given to school by our families in maintaining the safety procedures we have put in place.

Also the children's class pages and calendar dates on the school website are constantly being updated. If you have not looked recently the website address is https://stwulstans.sch.life Here you will be able to see photographs of the children's day, their year group curriculum, newsletters and school information. We encourage you to log on frequently as the website has all relevant school information.

Could I end today by asking yet again to please park with consideration to our neighbours. Please ensure you leave ample room for local residents to access their driveways. Similarly please do not park on pavements or corners which endangers children and parents lives as they walk to school. Thank you again to the vast majority of parents who do park considerately and safely.

We received some lovely baby news this week. Many congratulations to Mrs and Mr Warnett on the birth of their beautiful daughter, Phoebe Elizabeth, a lovely little sister for Joshua. She is absolutely gorgeous and we look forward to meeting her. We wish them all great health and happiness for the future.

We hope you have a lovely weekend and keep safe.
